Thoughts and memories of living and traveling abroad

Bloemenmarkt

One way we think to make a house feel like home is with plants! Especially flowers. So this past weekend we went to the Bloemenmarkt (Flower Market). It’s the only floating flower market in the world. All the stalls are on floating boats.

(You can kind of see here from this photo I took back in January on the right)

This place has plants, flowers, bulbs and seeds. All cheap!

50 tulips for €10.

Yes, we had a little accident and broke the window. Guess we need to prop it up with something next time!

  1. Hey Whitney!

I spent some time today with Dave and he was telling me about your excellent adventure – I’m jealous! Don’t you just love the city? One of my favorites…

I spent election day 2004 in Amsterdam. I arrived just minutes after Theo van Gogh was murdered. A very sad day for Amsterdamers (and it didn’t help when Bush beat Kerry). That night, in Dam Square, there was a HUGE protest over Theo’s murder. Usually these protest are more the silent variety, but since it was a free speech issue everyone brought pots and pans and beat the shit out them. Very moving…

I’m doing an internet talk show – The Opium Den. First show is April 9 at 9pm Eastern. They’ll be archived on the site and uploaded to iTunes. Maybe you’ll get a chance to check me out. I’d love your feedback.

Beautiful flowers, huh? Missy and I always spend hours checking out the vendors. And I trust you’re enjoying some of the other treats the city has to offer…

    All the best~

Have Heath fix that broken window with some electrical tape and a screw driver… I’ve seen him do it!
